All 20 public universities in Malaysia have officially enabled Gemini for Education within their academic and administrative environments, providing nearly 600,000 students and 75,000 faculty members with access to secure AI-powered tools through their existing Google Workspace for Education platforms.

With this initiative, the academic community can now leverage Gemini 3.1 Pro, an advanced AI reasoning model integrated with LearnLM, which is designed to support learning and knowledge exploration. Features such as Guided Learning and Deep Research allow students and lecturers to enhance their understanding of complex topics and support research and academic writing activities.

In addition, the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) has provided Google AI Pro for Education to approximately 40,000 faculty members, enabling expanded access to advanced AI capabilities for teaching and research. More than 128,000 students have also been given access to NotebookLM Enterprise to further support research and learning activities.

These efforts are complemented by various AI literacy initiatives, including Gemilang, the Google Skills platform, Gemini Certification for University Students, and Google Career Launchpad, which aim to enhance digital skills and prepare graduates for the future workforce.

The initiative reflects Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening the integration of artificial intelligence in higher education and supporting the nation’s aspiration to become an AI-driven nation by 2030.
